THE Escape Youth Cafe is relocating from Buccleuch Street into new premises in Commercial Road.
The popular drop-in facility is due to move into the two-level property next month, and project manager Sian Anderson said the facility has an exciting future.
She told the Hawick News: “The committee and staff have been investigating other premises for some time to allow us to offer our members a wider range of activities and services. As a drop-in facility we needed somewhere for young people to access that was within close proximity to the town centre and feel the new site will be ideal.”
She added: “It’s over twice the size and benefits from a break-off room and office space, allowing us to further develop issue-based and topical activities, as well as the opportunity to offer one-to-one support when needed.”
The cafe, although chosen as Sainsbury’s charity of the year for the Active Kids scheme - is currently pursuing funding, donations and local support to help improve the new property, but have been given a great start with a kitchen supplied by Howdens, and floor tiles from Chrystie’s.
