May I, through your columns, give a heartfelt thanks to the people of Hawick and district for their generosity during the recent Poppy Week. Especially in the present climate of austerity, their giving has raised the magnificent sum of more than £9,000.
When you next see a servicemen or women fitted with a prosthetic limb to help them resume their life, or a laddie given back his mind and pride after receiving treatment for post traumatic stress disorder, or maybe a family getting support to keep together in times of stress, just remember that could not happen with your help. You did this.
So, on their behalf, once more, I give my sincere thanks to you all.
