Wind turbine plan revealed for Borders College site

BORDERS College has lodged a planning application to erect a 10 metre high wind turbine.

The proposal is for a windcharger at the Buccleuch Road site which will have three blades, and only needs a light breeze to start generating power.

There are no objections, however the neighbours at Oakwood House have requested it is moved further away from their property.

Maureen and Ken Richards stated: “Whilst we have no objection in principal with this application, we would like the positioning of the turbine to be reconsidered and moved further away from our boundary, perhaps behind the college towards the car park, in order that the noise level (bearing in mind prevailing wind) would be reduced.”

The application is still pending consideration by Scottish Borders Council.
