Water supply investigated after issues among local residents

The water supply to people in Burnfoot is under continuing investigation by Scottish Water after reports of discolouration and substandard taste.

The national provider believes the poor quality water currently affects only one house in McLaren Court and is persisting with enquiries after a site visit to the residence earlier this week.

Councillor Stuart Marshall was alerted to complaints by local residents and instructed Scottish Water to conduct an investigation.

He said: “All I know is that several calls have come in regarding discolouration and poor tasting drinking water in the McLaren Court area and I have asked that Scottish Water thoroughly investigate the matter.

“I have been informed that an inspector was on site on Wednesday and I am awaiting feedback on the outcome of the visit.

“I was impressed at how swiftly Scottish Water have arranged for these tests to be carried out.”

Scottish Water say they will continue to work with those affected.

A spokesman told the Hawick News: “An inspector has visited a property at McLaren Court, Hawick, and we are continuing to assist and advise the customer.”
