Nominations are open for Denholm and District Community Council.
Local residents have until noon on Wednesday, November 23, to put their name forward to become a community councillor for the area.
Nomination forms are available from Denholm’s post office; returning officer and councillor, Stuart Marshall, on 378970 or firstname.lastname@example.org; Hawick Library, North Bridge Street; or Clare Malster, 01835 826626, cmalster@scotborders .gov.uk
Completed nomination forms should be posted in the ballot box at the post office or handed to Councillor Marshall.
There are 10 places available on the community council. Should less than five valid nominations be received, a new community council cannot be declared and six months will have to pass before nominations can be called for again.
But if 5-10 valid nominations are received, a new community council will be declared on December 1.
Councillor Marshall said: “The community council is a fantastic organisation that contributes a huge amount to the village.
“I urge local residents to get involved and help shape its future development.”
The first meeting of the new council will take place on Wednesday, December 7.
