Townsfolk urged to join tidy-up

The town’s two community councils are once again planning a spring clean-up in association with Keep Scotland Beautiful.

And an appeal has been issued not only for help, but for suggestions of areas to focus on.

Confirming the town tidy on Sunday, April 19, Hawick Community Council chairperson Marion Short said: “We hope volunteers will come along and join us tidying up Hawick. We already know representatives of the Angling Club and Boxing Club are attending, but the more people who turn out, the greater area we can cover. And if anyone knows of particular areas they can contact me on over50s@tiscali.co.uk or 07549853549.”

Meeting point is 10am at the Common Haugh, where equipment will be distributed. The council is also collecting rubbish from pick-up points.
