THE town hall clock returned to normal time last Wednesday afternoon following a power cut earlier in the week.
The entire building was closed to the public on Monday through until lunchtime on Tuesday after a problem with the changeover system on the emergency generator.
This resulted in the clock being plunged into darkness and subsequently reading the incorrect time.
It had initially been thought the problem lay with ScottishPower but further investigation revealed an electrical fault within the building.
A spokesperson for Scottish Borders Council told the Hawick News this week: “We would like to thank people in the area for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
All the clocks at the town hall which were affected by the power issues were re-set last Wednesday.
