THE line-up for Denholm Folk Festival was announced yesterday and organisers have pulled off a musical coup.
The curtain rises on the festival on Friday, November 4, with talented singer-songwriter David Swann from Yorkshire – followed by world-renowned musicians Catherine Craig and Brian Willoughby.
A event spokesman told the Hawick News: “This is a considerable coup for the festival. Catherine is a highly-respected singer and songwriter, having worked with many of the greats in country and contemporary music, and Brian was lead guitarist for 25 years in legendary folk-rock band The Strawbs. Together, they are one of the top acts on the UK and American folk scene.”
The late night slot on Friday is filled by Tarras, featuring local musician Rob Armstrong. And on Saturday evening, after the open competition, local favourites 3D will support headliners The Doonan Family Band, the hugely popular Irish traditional musicians and entertainers.
The festival finishes with the free concert in Denholm church on Sunday afternoon, although both pubs, Denholm Meet and the Festival Club in the village hall will be hosting sessions all weekend.
Tickets are available by calling 07706 661951 or 01835 830488, or at borderevents.com/boxoffice, Northport shop, Hawick, and Denholm Post Office.
