A WEENSLAND resident has issued a warning against a computer scam after being targeted twice by bogus callers.
Rosemary Watt has spoken out after receiving two telephone calls at her home, from people with Indian accents, claiming to be from the global company Windows – wishing to gain access to her computer.
She told the Hawick News: “I have had two phone calls in a fortnight, both of them saying they were from Windows, and had been receiving errors from our computer. They wanted to give me instructions to get access to it and fix it.”
She went on: “Luckily I knew immediately it was a scam because I’d heard of it before, but the first lady was very persuasive, saying my computer could crash at any moment and it was not a virus. I can see how people would easily fall for it.”
