Future Hawick is delighted with the initial response received for the shop front improvement grant scheme currently being promoted.
It is hoped that the match-funding grants, which have been introduced to help businesses with external repairs and maintenance, will create a more vibrant and attractive appearance for the town’s central shopping areas.
Future Hawick chairman Derick Tait said: “We’re only two weeks into the scheme and already there have been over a dozen enquiries. This is a positive attitude to High Street trading and reflects a desire to create a better business environment.”
The grants, which are available for both occupied and unoccupied properties, are being funded from Scottish Borders Council’s £30,000 investment package for Hawick and have been promoted in response to concerns expressed by businesses in the survey carried out by Future Hawick.
