HIGH Street food chain Subway has only been temporarily closed and is due to re-open in January.
Rumours that the submarine sandwich outlet had shut its doors permanently have been dismissed by outgoing manager Kirk Turnbull, who assured the Hawick News this week that Subway intend to have a new franchisee in place to take over after the New Year.
He stated: “Hawick’s Subway is shut at the moment, but new owners will be in place next month.
“The firm will not be pulling out of Hawick, and will not want it to be closed for long.”
He added: “The store has been closed since the Wednesday before Christmas due to health reasons.”
