Stirches Primary School has been awarded its second prestigious Green Flag from Keep Scotland Beautiful’s Eco-School judges.

The entire school has reason to celebrate after their dedication earned them the environmental accolade, which is an international standard of excellence.

Every class took part in efforts to reduce, reuse and recyle, which included litter-picking in the community and a ‘week of action’, which saw pupils making healthy smoothies and breakfasts.

Having completed a long list of forms and complicated criteria to win the Eco-Schools title, head teacher Catriona Hamilton told the Hawick News: “We are absolutely delighted to have won our second Green Flag. All the classes and staff were very enthusiastic and it’s great to see everyone involved. Hopefully the children take home what they’ve learned and continue to care for the environment.”
