THE softplay area at the Teviotdale Leisure Centre has been closed due to health and safety concerns.
However, assurances have been given that the kids’ attraction will re-open - with meetings currently taking place to discuss the possibilty of a bigger facility.
John Dodds, senior duty manager, told the Hawick News: “The softplay is not condemned, but it is currently closed for health and safety reasons due to wear and tear. It was getting old and we just couldn’t take the risk.
“We are now deciding whether it will be repaired or replaced, but at the moment we are considering making it bigger and better and are seeking quotes, because it is such a popular facility and brings in a lot of business to the centre.” He added: “That is coming from the top too, so there is no threat to the softplay’s future at all, it’s just a case of what we decide, and how soon that will be put in place.”
