Sex offender sent to jail for two years

A SEX offender has been jailed for 27 months.

Alastair Maxwell, known locally as Albert, was found guilty of a string of offences, including sexual abuse of a teenage girl in the town between December 2005 and March 2007, indecent and libidinous practices, making sexual remarks to the girl and forcing her to perform sexual acts on him.

Maxwell, 51, of the town’s Beaconsfield Terrace, was also found to have taken indecent photographs of the girl and to have stored the images on his computer.

Judge Rita Rae told Glasgow High Court: “There is no suggestion the images were other than for your own personal use.”
