Retiring Cub Scout leader Angela Cumming has decided to call it a day after 25 years’ service with the local movement.

She was presented with a bouquet of flowers by group chairman Charlie Turnbull at the Hawick Scout Group’s recent end-of-season barbecue at Hassendean.

Angela has filled just about every adult position in the group from Cub Scout leader to Scout leader, to group Scout leader to Explorer Scout leader and Duke of Edinburgh instructor, and was also a member of the Scout Fellowship Pipe Band. She has combined her sterling service with a busy life as a school teacher.

A Hawick group spokesperson said: “We’d like to thank Angela for all her past work and wish her all the very best for the future. A big thank you also to all the leaders and helpers throughout the year.”

During the evening, the young folk had the use of a water slide, and enjoyed the tug of war and parachute games. The entertainment was provided by the pipe band
