SIGN repairs and landscaping work at the Dovemount roundabout are set to begin early in the New Year.
Speaking to the Hawick News this week, local councillor Stuart Marshall says he is delighted that progress is being made to brighten up the area.
“It’s great news that at long last this roundabout is set to receive some attention. I have received several complaints from constituents who were concerned that the current situation was not a good advert for Hawick.
“At the moment it looks like a jungle but hopefully once the landscaping work has been completed it will be a huge improvement.”
The landscaping will include low-growing shrubs and will be carpeted by bark chips.
Mr Marshall added: “I am delighted that BEAR has approved the work and hopefully it won’t be too long before the damaged signage at the same junction is also replaced.”
