Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision on Monday, which claimed the life of an 18-year-old man and injured two others.
The incident occurred at around 2pm on the A698 Hawick to Kelso road near to Timpendean, when a black Seat car left the road and landed in a field. A Vauxhall Corsa was also in the area at the time.
Aaron Murphy suffered minor injuries, while Lee Sanderson and Dale Whillans were seriously injured. Tragically, Dale passed away on Thursday at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh.
A statement from his family said: “We cannot put into words the devastation we are all feeling. Dale was a very popular and happy young man. He was such a big part of all our lives and will never be forgotten.
“We are all deeply saddened by his death and would ask to be left to grieve in private at this sensitive time.”
