Scottish Borders Council has pledged to “review prodecures” after a school bus slid off the Hawick to Newcastleton road during last week’s heavy snow, writes Jason Marshall.
The bus was carrying around 40 secondary school pupils when the incident took place on the B6399 around 2pm last Friday.
A council spokesperson said: “None of the children suffered any injuries and were transported home safely afterwards.
“Following an investigation, the council is entirely satisfied that the bus driver and operator acted entirely appropriately, and speedily, to ensure that pupils were safe and alternative transport provided.
“As a matter of course, the council will review procedures for such an incident and will also remind pupils that they should have appropriate clothing for winter weather and should follow any instructions from school bus drivers in the interests of their own safety.”
