Record breaking sailor set to return to the high seas

LEGENDARY Hawick yachtsman Sir Chay Blyth plans to hit the high seas again, only this time at a more leisurely pace.

Sir Chay, 72, and his wife Felicity are planning to cruise the world for three years, including crossing the Atlantic as part of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers, an event that Chay established.

Having single-handedly sailed the ‘wrong way’ round the world and smashing an Atlantic crossing record in the process, Chay’s next adventure will be considerably more relaxed. They plan to start in Turkey and sail across the Atlantic, arriving in The Carribean for Christmas.

Chay said: “It will be a real adventure, it is like something you would see in a magazine, it is what people dream about.

Felicity added: “It does sound awfully romantic to just go wherever the wind takes us.”
