PUB operator JD Wetherspoon is opening its new pub in Hawick on Tuesday, April 19 with the creation of 50 jobs.
The company has spent £1.1 million transforming the former Conservative Club premises in Bourtree Place – with the new pub named The Bourtree, after the bourtrees, or elder trees which once stood there.
The new-look outlet features one bar, as well as a beer garden to the rear and side of the premises, where smoking will be permitted. Photos and information boards relating to the history and characters of Hawick, together with local history artwork, is on display.
Manager Stephen Reynolds said: “I am looking forward to welcoming customers into the pub and am confident that it will be a good addition to Hawick’s social scene.”
The Bourtree will be open from 9am until midnight, Sunday to Thursday, and 9am until 1am Friday and Saturday. Food will be served until 10pm.
