HAWICK’s police boss has praised the public for helping to ensure the Common-Riding was celebrated safely and successfully.
Speaking during the police spotlight of Teviot and Liddesdale Area Committee on Tuesday night, Inspector Paula Clark highlighted the recent festivities and weeks beforehand, stating: “I am delighted to report that those events passed without any significant incidents being reported to us. By this I mean serious assaults and serious disorder.
“The main Common-Riding events passed with very little incident and I thank the community for their continued support throughout this time.”
It was also heard that throughout the month police recorded a total of 65 crimes, of which 37 were detected.
