FOUR people have been arrested after police carried out drugs raids in the town.
The first raid was carried out last Friday at Towerknowe where personal amounts of diamorphine were found and a 41-year-old woman and a 72-year-old man were reported to the procurator fiscal.
The following day, an address at Backdamgate was targeted and 27 wraps of diamorphine found. As a result, a 47-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman have been reported for various offences, including being concerned in the supply of drugs and possession.
Police were unable to provide a value of the drugs seized.
Inspector Carol Wood said: “Police Scotland is committed to keeping people safe, and this includes removing drugs from our local communities.
“We welcome any new information from the public regarding drug dealers operating in local communities, and we will always act upon any intelligence we receive regarding individuals involved in this type of activity.”
