Plea goes out for help to grow bloom committee

AN APPEAL has been launched for volunteers to lend a helping hand to the town’s Hawick in Bloom committee.

The plea to boost the work of the community council group has been issued by chairman John Hope, as members strive to enhance floral displays.

The committee is responsible for planters including those on the High Street, the Roond Close and at Haughead, but Mr Hope says with a litte more help from townsfolk they could take on areas affected by cutbacks.

He said: “The bloom sub-committee puts in a tremendous effort to keep our town looking good, but to improve it we would like to invite anyone with two or three hours spare per week to assist them by offering their suggestions and help. The community council and public would appreciate any help that could be given.”

Those interested are invited to a meeting on Wednesday, at 7pm, in the Future Hawick offices (Kirk Wynd).
