AFTER so much bad press about Hawick Royal Albert during recent seasons, I would like to comment on the changes I witnessed when attending Saturday’s match.
Although it was the Albert’s first win in many games and everyone connected with the club was obviously delighted, what really struck me was the real pride shown by the out-of-town players in wearing the Hawick jersey. The pitch was in great shape, too, and the clubrooms were immaculate. Also, the catering for both teams should be applauded.
I’m sure that thanks to the endeavours of club chairman Graeme Paxton and his committee, the Albert have a bright future and will become a force once again.ERIC LYALL
