NOMINATIONS are open for the Hawick Community Council election.
And local residents have until 5pm on Tuesday, September 24 to put their name forward to become a community councillor.
There are 15 places available, but should less than eight valid nominations be received a new community council cannot be declared and six months will have to pass before nominations can be called for again.
If 15 valid nominations are received a new community council will be declared on October 2. Should more than 15 nominations be received a ballot will take place.
Nomination forms are available from: Scottish Borders Council contact centre, High Street; Hawick library, North Bridge Street; or by downloading the form from the SBC website. http://www.scotborders.gov.uk/hawickelection
