THE annual general meeting of the newly-formed Hawick Twinning Association will be held on Thursday in the Future Hawick offices at 7pm.
And community council representative Evelyn Sangster is hoping it will herald a new start for the group, which has been on the verge of collapsing.
She told the Hawick News: “This will be a new beginning. We’re going to be electing office bearers with a view to working towards arranging a visit in 2013, which will be the 40th anniversary of when the treaty between Hawick and Bailleul was originally signed.”
Members of the public are welcome to attend.
Mrs Sangster added: “Our meetings are getting bigger each time with a lot of people interested in being part of the new committee.”
