YOUNGSTERS in Denholm are enjoying new play park equipment thanks to a £9,000 investment by Scottish Borders Council.
A multi-use seesaw, carousel and springer have been installed in Ashloaning – behind Main Street – after local officials backed funding of the works from the small schemes budget.
The investment, which included purchase, site preparation and installation, has been welcomed by ward member Stuart Marshall, who commented: “I’m really pleased that the play park has finally received the upgrade it deserved, it was getting very tired-looking.”
Councillor Marshall has also asked the parks department to investigate the possibility of providing a basket swing for the village green play park. He added: “A similar one is a very popular attraction with the kids at Sleepy Valley.”
Denholm Community Council was also fully behind the new park equipment bid.
