A mother whose young daughter suffers from cerebral palsy is hoping to raise £2,000 for a specialist bike which will allow her to compete in disabled sporting events.
Tania Frew is holding a cake sale at TW clothing on March 20 and is also set to step out on a sponsored walk from Hawick to Roberton and back.
Speaking to the Hawick News this week, Tania said: “Kelsey was inspired when we met Gemma Scott and Samantha Kinghorn at a disability sports event. When I spoke to her physio about doing wheelchair racing they showed me the Petra Race Runner which is like a bike but it is moved by using her legs. It will also help strengthen her leg muscles and train her how to walk without the full weight of her body on her feet.
“She will also be able to take part in school sports on her own instead of being pushed in her wheelchair.
