LOCAL MSP John Lamont is hoping Hawick High School’s recent trip to the Scottish Parliament may inspire the next generation of political leaders.

The Tory member welcomed almost 50 pupils and teachers (pictured), who were given a tour of Holyrood before watching First Minister’s Questions.

They also had the chance to find out more about Mr Lamont’s work as an MSP

The Tory parliamentarian said: “It was great to be able to welcome Hawick High School to the Scottish Parliament. I am always eager to give schools the opportunity to visit Holyrood and find out more about how it works and what I do as their constituency MSP.

“I know a lot of them were excited about getting the chance to see First Minister’s Questions live, and on the whole I think everyone enjoyed their visit.

“It was brilliant to meet such an enthusiastic group of young people and I hope that their trip might inspire some of the leaders of the future!”
