THE gates at the Moor have been temporarily locked following reports of alleged hare coursing.
Vehicles are currently banned from the Moor – although walkers are still allowed – in a bid to protect the sheep in lamb.
Scottish Borders Council property officer Frank Scott said: “The gates at the Moor have been locked following a series of incidents in the last couple of weeks. The tenant farmer has had to take this step as the sheep on the Moor are in lamb.
“Gates have been left open, and there was even a report of a dummy hare being chased by dogs on the back of a 4x4.”
