Mill theft accused remanded for trial

A man accused of theft from a mill has been remanded in custody for trial.

Robert Young, 39, of Rosevale Street, appeared from custody at Jedburgh Sheriff Court and denied attempting to break into Johnstons of Elgin, Eastfield Mills, on December 9, with intent to steal.

He also pleaded not guilty to breaking into the same premises on December 10 and stealing clothing.

Young was remanded in custody for trial on February 25.

A teenager has denied driving dangerously in the town.

Christopher Hair, 18, of Wilton Glebe, pleaded not guilty to moving off at speed, with a police officer holding on to an open car door, in High Street and O’Connell Street, on November 14.

He will stand trial on
May 5.
