The ‘My Latest Purchase’ night showed the range of collecting interests enjoyed by members. There were postcards of flowers, some from Monaco and a selection showing the masterpieces contained in The Hermitage at St Petersburg.

Varieties on the stamps of Gibraltar, Malta and New Zealand were studied, as was an extensive range of issues from the Gold Coast; the German inflation period 1922-23; Kenya, Uganda and Tanganyika; and a selection of the 1841 Twopenny Blue of Great Britain.

Shown were special postmarks of the 1890 Penny Postage Jubilee; various items issued for the 175th anniversary of the Penny Black; two air mail covers to Sweden from Egypt and the Dutch East Indies sent during the Second World War; and airship stamps issued by the United States in 1930, Tannu Touva in 1936 and Paraguay in 1932.
