Scottish Borders Council is visiting each of the area forums through November and December to present the proposed new Local Development Plan (LDP).

The LDP sets out a range of proposals for the Borders including a variety of land uses and policies to influence decision-making on planning applications, and SBC’s proposed plan will be subject to representation for a period of 12 weeks starting towards the end of the year.

The proposed plan, when published, will be able to be viewed online at www.scotborders.gov.uk/ldp and at council contact centres and libraries.

It will be presented to the Teviot and Liddesdale Area Forum on November 19 in the lesser town hall at 6.30pm.

Councillor Ron Smith, SBC’s executive member for planning and the environment, told the Hawick News: “The plans we make now will be used in the future to determine planning applications and to bring forward new land for development.”
