Work starts at Martin’s Bridge
WORK to strengthen and refurbish Martin’s Bridge is now underway.
The work is part of Scottish Borders Council’s bridge maintenance programme - but will also prepare it for heavy goods vehicles travelling to the new Langhope Rig wind farm.
Access scaffolding work and support centering to the bridge arches is expected to finish early next month. Scottish Water will start the temporary diversion of their two water mains on Monday 18 March, which is programmed to last four weeks and will allow the bridge strengthening works to start.
The main bridge works will close the B711 Roberton road to all traffic from Monday April 15, for 10 weeks. The bridge will then be opened and the remainder of work carried out under temporary traffic lights, with it fully opening in late August.
