Warning sounded to rogue cyclists

CYCLISTS are being reminded of their responsibilities and have been warned they risk losing their wheels altogether.

Burnfoot Community Councillor Alex Martin said this week: “I was out the other day and they were whizzing past old folk. They weren’t little kids either, it was late teenagers we’re talking about.

“They think this is great fun but someone is going to get knocked over by them and seriously hurt.”

Community beat officer Steven Sutherland revealed they were already taking measures to address the issue.

He said: “We’ve taken one or two bikes off people so far. The message is simple especially at this time of year when 90 per cent of them don’t have lights, they either ride properly or we come along and remove the bikes.”
