TWO more members of the public have joined Hawick Flood Group, bolstering the coordinator team to 14.
Volunteers Mick Brown and Alan Grief were welcomed into the fold at Tuesday night’s flood group meeting, and the new recruits have been hailed as a “valuable asset” by chairman Stuart Marshall.
In the coming months, the group will meet with the police in order to keep up to date with the changes under Police Scotland restructuring, as well as with emergency planning officials at Scottish Borders Council and SEPA.
Mr Marshall added: “I would, however, urge those many members of the public who haven’t yet registered for assistance with us to please get in touch with myself or any of our coordinators.”
He also said the group was indebted to the Fire and Rescue Service for the use of the station for meetings during the winter.
