A CD HAS been produced celebrating the works of renowned Hawick musician Brian Bonsor.

Mr Bonsor, who was awarded an MBE in 2002 for services to teaching music, especially the recorder, passed away in February last year.

The Society of Recorder Players, to whom he was musical director, decided they wanted to commemorate his life.

His wife Mary said: “Many will remember Brian for his great contribution to the musical life of the Borders and it is hoped that this CD will not only bring pleasure to former players and their families, but also will make the perfect Christmas gift for music lovers.”

The Amici Recorder Ensemble is a hand picked group of some of the finest amateur and professional recorder players from all parts of the UK, while the accompanist is the well known Jim Letham.

The CD features many of Mr Bonsor’s original compositions, some of which were dedicated to Hawick High School, and arrangements of music by other composers.

It is available from Brydon’s Bakery, Deans and Simpson’s, the Little Shop and Mary Bonsor, 37, Weensland Road.
