HAWICK’S traffic warden will not be axed until the end of February, with a one month delay being announced due to ongoing negotiations.
Police Scotland has confirmed that it has extended the date to withdraw wardens, while continuing to work with local councils and move towards decriminalised parking enforcement. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We will continue to work in partnership with our communities through targeted enforcement activity where our communities or officers identify problems.
“This will continue through regular dialogue with councils, community councils and members of the public should parking become an issue.”
A Scottish Borders Council spokesman added: “We have a very strong partnership with Police Scotland and are confident we can address any parking issues that arise.”
