Parts of High Street and Howegate experienced a power cut on Saturday morning.
Many shops and local residents lost their supply for up to half-an-hour.
It is believed the poor weather conditions and a possible power surge were to blame.
Local butcher Lindsay Grieve lost his supply three times in a period of two hours and commenting this week, a staff member said: “We lost our supply three times but only for about five seconds each time. We have lost the memory on our scales so they will have to be reprogrammed.
Several other local shops were affected, as well as High Street cash machines.
