Teribuskers set to gather for musical variety show

MUSIC will fill the streets of the town early next month as performers both local and from further afield tune up for the town’s annual Teribuskers festival.

A series of events during the second weekend of September will begin with the Stuart Anderson Dance Band headlining a night of concert and ceilidh on Friday, September 7 at Wilton Church Hall.

The evening’s entertainment will begin at 7pm and will feature several local acts.

The weekend of song will culminate two days later, on Sunday, September 9 with musical performances and a duck race at Wilton Lodge Park from 1.30pm.

On the Saturday, the High Street is expected to be filled with buskers from the town and further afield from 11am-4pm. Many performers are scheduled to come from outwith the area, and organisers have urged all local musicians to become involved.

Committee member Rory Bannerman said: “The festival is as much about participation as viewing.

“Street buskers are able to earn a few quid for their efforts and all are welcome to try. Use it or lose it, folks – please pick up your moothie or guitar or trumpet and head on down to play your choice of music.”

The event is now in its fifth year and is thought to be unique among towns and cities throughout Scotland.
