LOCAL horseriders were in the thick of the prizegiving ceremonies at two recent events.
Husband-and-wife pair Sally and David Burns and fellow Teries Stephen Murray and Kelly Moffat – all of Rachan Sports Horses at St Leonard’s farm – gained credible placings.
At the Scottish Sport Horse Youngstock show in Ayr, Kelly gained second place with Rachan Diamonte in the foal section and won third place with Rachan Riverdance in the yearling youngstock class.
At Penrith a week past Sunday, Kelly was placed second in the yearling in-hand, while David won the event and was named reserve champion. Stephen Murray won foal class, and Sally, with a stallion, won the class and was named champion.
Sally said of a successful year: “We have pretty good years most years but this year’s been a bit dire because of the weather. The events we have entered, though, have been great.”
Kelly, 28, in her first season in eventing, added: “I’m just loving every minute of it. I don’t like working with people watching, but once you’re there, you get caught up in the atmosphere.”
