Sarahs Angels are pulling out all the stops to raise breast cancer awareness

SARAH’S Angels have all pledged to walk, jog or run the Race for Life in Holyrood Park, Edinburgh, this June to help raise vital funds for Cancer Research.

Sarah Turnbull, (40) who lives in Yarrow Terrace, was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.

Following the shock diagnosis, Sarah’s friends rallied round and pledged to support her in any way they could.

She recently underwent chemotherapy and is in the process of receiving radiotherapy treatment.

Sarah is determined to beat the disease and, with the support of her ‘Angels’, will be raising as much money for the charity as possible over the coming months.

One of Sarah’s Angels Jan Wilson, told the Hawick News: “Although she hasn’t finished her treatment yet, she’s doing really well. She’s expected to make a full recovery.

“She’s doing brilliantly. Sarah has been so brave through it all, her attitude has been so great, and now she’s helping and supporting others which is typical of her. She’s such an amazing person.” Sarah’s Angels, who have all been friends since they were kids, are taking a team of 12, including Sarah and six little girls, to the 5k race through Holyrood Park, and all in fancy dress. The Angels are planning on donning pink tutus, wings and halos in support of breast cancer awareness.

Jan added: “It’s a great group of lassies doing it together, we’ve all been friends since we were kids, and we are honoured to be her angels.

“We will do anything we can to raise breast cancer awareness. It’s going to be great, as we’re investing in the future for our children, plus it’s a fun day out.

It will also be a bittersweet day for them. “It’s such an awful disease. But there will be so many women there, it shows you how many folk are going through it, which is why we need to find a cure.”

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, and around 50,000 women are diagnosed with the disease each year.
