Prison ‘only option’ for heroin dealer

A HAWICK man who sold £80 of heroin to an undercover police officer has been jailed for five months.

Heroin addict Alan Finn, 32, sold the drug from his Galashiels home in Tweed Court on three different occasions in May.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard this week that his arrest came after police launched an operation to crack down on drug dealers in the town.

Finn admitted a single charge of being involved in the supply of drugs.

Sheriff Elizabeth Jarvie QC told Finn, who has previous convictions for drug dealing, that a prison sentence was the only option.
