Pensioner on the receiving end of scam

A HAWICK pensioner has issued a warning to others after being targeted by a telephone scam.

Jim Little says he received a call from a company claiming to stop PPI companies getting in touch. The former community councillor told the Hawick News: “A man with an English accent said he believed I’d been receiving lots of PPI calls, but I said I had opted out of such calls. I handed the phone to my wife and the gentleman said we could pay so much a month, to stop any calls.”

“This would have led to wanting our bank details, so we want to warn people. The Phone Preference Service later said it had not been them.”
