Lamont in support of localised TV news

LOCAL MSP John Lamont has met representatives of Ofcom to express support for more localised news for his constituents.

Media watchdog Ofcom recently published research showing that there was a demand in the region for more local news, and ITV recently had its license renewed with an understanding that they would need to provide viewers in the Borders with more news about their area.

Mr Lamont MSP said: “Viewers in the Borders want more news and information about what is going on in their local area. I am hopeful though that we will soon see ITV delivering the news service that those in the Borders region need and deserve.”
