Hawick High School engineering cheque, with Paul Wheelhouse

HAWICK MSP Paul Wheelhouse has backed a high school campaign to buy a computer numeric control (CNC) router, a laser cutter and a vacuum former.

To tie in with the Vision 2013 Year of Industry the school is looking to improve its engineering technology through the £40,000 purchases. And Mr Wheelhouse has kicked things off with a £200 donation.

Depute head Ally Little said: “We are keen to engage with local businesses and the community in this venture and if any individuals or local businesses are interested in finding out more about this exciting initiative please come along to the Craft, Design and Technology (CDT) open evening and prizegiving on May 9 or otherwise contact John Troup at the high school.”
