Drunk-driver slapped with instant ban

A WOMAN has been banned from the road after admitting driving while more than four times the legal alcohol limit.

Fifty-four-year-old Wendy Perry appeared from custody at Jedburgh Sheriff Court yesterday (Thursday) after being arrested in Buccleuch Road the previous day at around 3pm.

Police had stopped her Ford Ka motor car and after speaking to Perry noticed she appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

She provided a positive roadside breath test and later gave another sample of breath that contained a proportion of alcohol more than four times the legal limit.

Sentence was deferred until March 22 for background reports and Perry was released on bail.

In addition, she received an interim disqualification which meant an instant ban on driving.
