Drink-driver caught in Weensland Road

A 47-YEAR-OLD motorist was found to be almost three times the alcohol limit at around 1.20 on Sunday morning.

Officers noticed a Mitsubishi car being driven eratically, and when they stopped the vehicle it was noted that the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. He failed a roadside breath test and was arrested.

He was charged with drink-driving and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

POLICE are appealing for information after vandals smashed a first floor window at the Borders Textile Towerhouse by throwing a bottle through it.

Anyone who can help with enquiries into the incident, which took place between 5pm on Friday and 9.45 am the following day, should contact the station on 375051.

POLICE arrested a 21-year old man for breach of the peace after being called to a disturbance in McClaren Court on Saturday at around 8.30pm.

He was detained in custody until sober and issued with a fixed penalty fine on release.
