Campsite opens up for business at Ruberslaw

A tent-only campsite near Denholm opened for business last week and has plans to offer a “unique” holiday experience for visitors to the area.

Ruberslaw Wild Woods Camping has already attracted tens of campers to its picturesque walled garden site, and will early next year offer remote hillside pitches – thought to be a first in the south of Scotland.

Alan Bailey, of Spital Tower, which borders Rule Water, is pleased with the feedback from early visitors to the site, who have identified the modern wash facilities and kitchen/dining provisions as particular highlights.

“Reaction has been very good,” said Mr Bailey. “People are impressed with the fact we’ve set out to provide top quality facilities. In comparison with other sites, we’ve gone for the top end, and people appreciate that.

“I’ve done an enormous amount of camping myself and really loved it.”
