The Grammy Award winning bluegrass and folk singer is flying over from West Virginia to perform a string of intimate gigs across Scotland, stopping in Hawick for just one night.
Sister of the hugely influential Tim O’Brien, whom she recorded three highly-acclaimed albums with in the 80s before going on to release a string of successful solo releases, Mollie is held in high regard by Americana fans.
Making a rare appearance on this side of the Atlantic as a duo with Eric Thorin on bass and harmony vocals, the couple are touring to promote their new album, Saints & Sinners. Mollie has previously appeared on the main stage of Glasgow Royal Concert hall during the city’s Celtic Connections festival.
Mollie told the Hawick News: “We have many friends who come to the British Isles more frequently than we do, and we have heard that they always get a welcome in the Scottish Borders.
“We have heard great things about this lovely venue you have there and we are so pleased to be heading your way.”
Mollie O’Brien will be performing at the Heart of Hawick on Friday, March 22 at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £12 (£10) call the box office for details 01450 360 688
